Position
Purpose:
Consistently working with all household team members and led by resident and family preference, the primary purpose of this position is to provide both caregiving and homemaking services to meet the needs and desires of all household residents, providing for the daily personal, physical, environmental, psycho-social and spiritual needs, activities of daily living and comfort of our residents in accordance with our established policies, procedures and standards.
Versatile Workers provide resident care, housekeeping, life enrichment, and dining support and assistance to our residents. Supports all aspects of the household environment, including pets, plants, children, visitors, and guests, facilitating all planned and spontaneous needs and activities.
Essential Functions/Accountabilities:
- Attends to all resident personal care needs, including but not limited to, grooming, hygiene, dining and nutritional, mobility, toileting, psychosocial and safety needs. Organizes all supplies necessary to complete the tasks. Supports residents in self-care and provides care as necessary for those unable to care for their own needs.
- Regularly checks and provides appropriate care and stimulation to residents needing specialized attention, including observation of the skin and provision of care related to the prevention of skin breakdown. Immediately reports any changes to the household nurse.
- Responds to residents’ requests, including call lights/pendants, silent alarms, in a timely manner.
- Plans, develops, implements and evaluates the activity/recreation programs of the household.
- With transportation provided, accompany and assists residents to the activities outside the household and to assist residents to activities inside the household.
- Assists resident in carrying out their restorative program(s), which may include but is not limited to, ambulation, transfers, bed mobility, ADL’s, ROM, splints, dining restorative program, and bowel and bladder restorative program. Maintains the resident’s dignity while providing services and communicates immediately to the household nurse a resident’s complaint of pain during their restorative program.
Minimum Qualifications :
- State of Kentucky registered nurse’s aide is required. (ERS may be willing to provide training)
- Must have a valid driver’s license and must carry valid auto insurance.
- Must have the ability, with or without reasonable accommodation, to lift, push, pull of move 50 lbs on a regular basis and 100 lbs occasionally.
- Must have the ability to relate to and work effectively with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and, at times, hostile people within the household and to remain calm in emotionally charged situations.
- Must have the ability to read, write and communicate effectively in the English language.
- Must have the ability to see and hear, with or without reasonable accommodation, so that the essential functions of this position may be fully met.
- Must have the ability to sit, stoop, bend, and move continuously throughout the day.
- Must have the ability to maintain an attendance record which falls within the guidelines of the company’s and household’s attendance policy.
- Must possess leadership ability and be willing to work harmoniously with other personnel as well as be willing to communicate with residents based at whatever behavior or acuity level they are currently functioning.
- Must have knowledge and competencies for age specific interventions.
