Responsibilities

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), under direction and supervision, is accountable for patient care. The LPN focuses on safe, effective, patient and family centered care, customer satisfaction and quality outcomes. The LPN assists in maintaining a financially stable unit, promotes own development with an emphasis on evidence based practice and education supported by a Practice Governance framework. The LPN may delegate nursing tasks to non-licensed staff members.

In conjunction with leadership, the LPN assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care plans. The LPN applies educational and professional experiences in the delivery of quality care and mentors/precepts non-licensed staff and/or students.
