The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) coordinates and provides nursing care for residents and supervises and guides clinical staff members.
Qualifications- Education: Graduate of an accredited LPN/LNV school of nursing.
- Licenses/Certification: Valid LPN/LVN license in the state of employment and valid CPR certification.
- Experience: One year of nursing experience preferred.
- Document residents’ conditions and nursing needs.
- Accurately and promptly implement physicians’ orders.
- Assign nursing care to team members based on residents’ needs and personnel capabilities.
- Supervise, direct, and evaluate junior staff members and CNAs.
- Administer medications and perform treatments for assigned residents and document treatments per company, local, state, and federal rules.
- Participate in orientation and in‑service training for personnel.
- Ensure supplies are used economically and equipment is clean and maintained.
- Record observations and reactions regarding residents.
- Coordinate nursing care when residents are scheduled for therapy or procedures.
- Interview applicants and recommend hires; participate in counseling, disciplinary action, and termination of staff to the extent permitted by the state practice act.
- Supervise nursing unit, schedule and direct staff to the extent permitted by the state practice act.
- Ensure inventory and supplies are maintained and communicate needs for housekeeping, maintenance, or dietary assistance.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
- Skill in directing and motivating the workforce.
- Ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team.
- Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and all levels of the organization.
- Ability to react decisively and quickly in emergency situations.
- Knowledge of training techniques for clinical staff.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
