We're seeking an experienced Travel Med Surg / Surgical Trauma Registered Nurse to join a fast-paced, high-acuity unit caring for post-operative, trauma, oncology, and general medical patients. This assignment is ideal for an RN with strong clinical skills who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about delivering exceptional patient care.
Unit Highlights- 26-bed mixed-acuity unit
- RN-to-patient ratio: 1:4-6
- High-volume unit with 8-12 discharges daily

- Sickle Cell Disease
- General Medical patients
- Deliver comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care.
- Perform detailed patient assessments and ongoing monitoring.
- Administer blood products and medications safely.
- Manage wound care, wound vacs, JP drains, chest tubes, and surgical drains.
- Care for patients with skeletal and Buck's traction.
- Monitor and manage Heparin infusions.
- Provide PCA pain management.
- Care for patients requiring stable BiPAP and high-flow oxygen therapy.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and multidisciplinary teams to achieve the best patient outcomes.
- Educate patients and families throughout hospitalization.
- Maintain accurate documentation using Cerner EMR.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med Surg/Surgical Trauma acute care experience (3 years preferred).
- At least one completed travel assignment (first-time travelers not accepted).
- Current BLS certification.
- Current NIHSS certification.
- Strong post-operative and medical-surgical nursing skills.
- Blood administration
- Wound care and wound VAC management
- JP drain and chest tube management
- Skeletal and Buck's traction experience
- Heparin infusion management
- PCA pain management
- High-flow oxygen and stable BiPAP care
- Strong teamwork and critical thinking skills
- Cerner EMR
- Omnicell medication dispensing
- Phillips telemetry monitors
- 24/7 Respiratory Therapy, Hospitalists, Intensivists, and Specialists
- Vascular Access Team
- Sepsis and Rapid Response Teams
- Free onsite parking
- Every other weekend rotation
- No on-call requirement
