Contract Length: 13 Weeks
We’re seeking an experienced Surgical Oncology Registered Nurse for a fast-paced 16-bed Surgical Oncology unit. This role is ideal for RNs with strong post-operative acute care experience who thrive in a collaborative, patient-focused environment.
Responsibilities- Care for post-op Surgical Oncology patients, including:
- Solid tumor removals
- Bowel reconstruction
- Flap procedures
- New and emergent tracheostomies
- Laryngectomies
- Ileus management
- Ostomies
- Nephrostomy tubes
- Manage TPN/Lipids, PICC lines, NG tubes, ports, drains, and wound care
- Collaborate with surgeons and multidisciplinary care teams
- Float within mixed-acuity units as needed
- Active RN License (KY or Compact)
- BLS (AHA)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care/Med-Surg experience (3+ years preferred)
- Previous travel experience preferred
- First-time travelers not accepted
- Experience with Surgical Oncology and post-operative patients strongly preferred
- 16-bed Surgical Oncology Unit
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4–6
- Cerner EMR
- Omnicell Medication System
- Vascular Access Team
- 24/7 Hospitalists, Intensivists, RT, and Specialist coverage
- Supportive, collaborative team culture
- Free onsite parking
- Galaxy Blue scrubs
- 3x12-hour Night Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Every other weekend
- Holiday rotation required
- No on-call
- 13-week travel contract
