About the Role:
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner plays a critical role in delivering comprehensive mental health care to diverse patient populations across the United States. This position involves assessing, diagnosing, and managing psychiatric disorders through evidence-based practices, including prescribing medications and providing psychotherapy. The role requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized treatment plans that promote patient recovery and well-being. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner also educates patients and their families about mental health conditions and treatment options, fostering a supportive environment for healing.
Ultimately, this position aims to improve patients' quality of life by addressing their mental health needs with compassion, professionalism, and clinical expertise.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
- Active and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the United States.
- Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or equivalent.
- Minimum of two years of clinical experience in psychiatric or mental health nursing.
- Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology, psychiatric assessment, and evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in diverse clinical settings such as inpatient, outpatient, or community mental health centers.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and telepsychiatry platforms.
- Additional certifications in trauma-informed care, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), or other psychotherapeutic modalities.
- Experience in interdisciplinary team leadership or case management.
- Advanced training in substance use disorder treatment or child and adolescent psychiatry.
