Quality Technician
The Quality Technician supports the site-level Quality and Compliance Systems for the hygienic processing of healthcare textiles. This role ensures daily compliance with HLAC, TRSA Hygienically Clean, and ISO 9001:2015 standards while serving as the plant's key contact for infection prevention, product quality, and document control.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform infection prevention (IP) and product audits, ensuring compliance with HLAC and TRSA standards.
- Conduct process and work-construction audits to confirm hygienic, appearance, and order accuracy requirements are maintained.
- Manage local document control, including removal of obsolete procedures, posting of new documents, and verifying operator training on updates.
- Maintain training matrices and records in coordination with Human Resources; ensure ongoing training compliance beyond initial onboarding.
- Support customer complaint investigations, collect data, assist root cause analysis, and issue or implement quality alerts as needed.
- Execute incoming product and linen inspections, monitor supplier performance, and support vendor quality verification.
- Track and report defect rates (stains, holes, wash loss, packaging, etc.) to support continuous improvement and trend analysis.
- Verify critical-to-quality (CTQ) process parameters such as wash temperatures, drying cycles, ironer settings, and hygiene validation steps.
- Conduct or coordinate scale verification and equipment calibration checks as part of internal audit readiness.
- Participate in product or customer introduction reviews (APQP-style) to verify product quality, packaging, and performance before rollout.
- Support corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities in collaboration with the Regional Quality Manager.
- Provide feedback and recommendations for continuous improvement, particularly where quality, hygiene, and appearance impact customer satisfaction.
- Serve as the on-site liaison for internal audits, regional quality visits, and accreditation reviews.
Education/Training:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree or equivalent industry experience in quality, healthcare, or manufacturing preferred but not required.
- ISO 9001:2015 internal auditing or quality systems training preferred.
- Experience in healthcare laundry or other regulated/validated environments is advantageous.
Requirements/
Competency:
- Minimum 2–3 years of quality, compliance, or production support experience (preferred).
- Familiarity with HLAC, TRSA Hygienically Clean, or comparable hygiene and quality programs.
- Understanding of ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems and internal audit principles.
- Proficient in document control, recordkeeping, and training systems.
- Analytical mindset with ability to trend quality data and identify improvement opportunities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to work effectively with plant staff, management, and auditors.
- Competent in Microsoft Office and SharePoint/Smartsheet systems for QMS tracking.
