Senior Quality Engineer

Location:

Louisville, KY - Louisville Plant

As a member of the quality team, the Quality Engineer will be responsible coordinating all Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) activities and monitoring the performance of suppliers to ensure compliance with quality standards and continuous improvement initiatives.

The Role:

  • Communicate and collaborate with corporate supplier quality, seat engineers, and the development team.
  • Manage Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and profile activities.
  • Track, develop, and implement Engineering Change Notices (ECN).
  • Actively verify supplier corrective actions, including receiving inspections and overseeing the return of discrepant materials to suppliers.
  • Engage in Plant Level Supplier Development implementation and tracking, including receiving inspections, third party audit tracking, part certification dates, and Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) reviews.
  • Issue and maintain Quality Notices (QNs) through the Supplier Quality Tracking System (SQTS), including issuing chargebacks for costs incurred due to defects.
  • Receive, review, and approve all PPAP submissions for non-directed suppliers into Lear Louisville.
  • Participate in problem-solving and corrective actions for customer and internal issues.
  • Maintain and communicate Returned Goods to Vendor (RGV) notifications, including defect notifications to suppliers, requesting Return Material Authorizations (RMAs), and maintaining chargebacks/cost recoveries through CAPS, People Soft, and Finance.
  • Produce and complete corporate and internal reports, including Management Operating System (MOS) report such as chargebacks and Supplier-Related Parts Per Million (SRPPM).
  • Maintain supplier contacts and documentation.
  • Perform internal audits for International Automotive Task Force (IATF) 16949 and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 14001 to ensure compliance.
  • Perform any other duties as required in pursuance of the function of this position or as directed.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Planning and organization skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Time management and prioritization skills.
  • Experience in ISO/IATF, customer, and internal audits.
  • Bachelor's (4-year) degree.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience working in a manufacturing setting in a Quality department.
  • Ensure understanding and implementation of agreed quality parameters and product specific requirements.
  • Strong understanding of statistics, problem solving, manufacturing processes, and computer experience.
  • Understanding and use of problem-solving tools (e.g., Fishbone Diagram, 3x5Y, Is-Is-Not, 8D, etc.)
