Position DescriptionThe Department of Microbiology and Immunology is seeking a Research Assistant II. Our research focuses on understanding the events that lead to autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus, and development of therapies for the prevention or treatment of autoimmune disease. The candidate will conduct experiments, collate and analyze experimental data, make graphics, maintain the mouse colonies and databases. In addition to general lab duties as assigned, the candidate will be expected to perform cell separation, use molecular and cellular techniques, work with murine (mouse) models of autoimmune disease, and prepare materials and equipment necessary for laboratory tests.
Small animal (mouse) husbandry experience would be a plus. The candidate should be proficient in the use of computers in general and Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Conduct experiments including cell separation, experiments requiring molecular and cellular as well as sterile techniques.
- Conduct experiments involving mouse models of autoimmune disease.
- Collate and analyze experimental data.
- Make graphics.
- Maintain databases.
- Maintain mouse colonies.
- Prepare materials and equipment necessary for laboratory tests.
- Perform general lab duties as assigned.
- Sterile technique/cell culture experience
