Research Scientist
Clariant is seeking an Associate Scientist to join the Catalyst Research & Development team. This role is responsible for the analysis of inorganic materials using advanced digestion techniques, wet chemistry methods, and state‑of‑the‑art analytical instrumentation. The Associate Scientist will support research projects through laboratory testing, data analysis, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring compliance with laboratory safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities- Analyze inorganic materials using advanced digestion methods, wet chemistry techniques, and established analytical methodologies.
- Execute laboratory experiments, defined tasks, and sub‑projects to support research and development objectives.
- Maintain accurate, professional, and timely documentation of experimental data and results utilizing approved electronic systems, including LIMS.
- Perform routine maintenance, preventative maintenance (PM), troubleshooting, and upkeep of laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
- Develop, update, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to elemental analysis and laboratory testing.
- Utilize laboratory resources efficiently, identify opportunities for process improvements, and recommend equipment maintenance needs.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety standards, quality requirements, and 5S principles.
- Collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams while managing assigned work independently.
- Establish and achieve SMART performance objectives aligned with departmental goals.
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline preferred; equivalent laboratory experience will be considered.
- 1–3 years of laboratory experience with hands‑on exposure to wet chemistry, sample preparation, inorganic material analysis, and analytical testing methods.
- Experience operating, troubleshooting, maintaining, and performing preventative maintenance on laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
- Proficiency with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), Microsoft Office, and scientific or statistical software for data analysis and documentation.
- Strong technical aptitude, mechanical aptitude, problem‑solving skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within cross‑functional teams.
