Medical Requirements

The duties of positions in this series require moderate to arduous physical exertion involving walking and standing, use of firearms, and exposure to inclement weather. Manual dexterity with comparatively free motion of finger, wrist, elbow, shoulder, hip, and knee joints is required. Arms, hands, legs, and feet must be sufficiently intact and functioning in order that applicants may perform the duties satisfactorily.

Sufficiently good vision in each eye, with or without correction, is required to perform the duties satisfactorily. Near vision, corrective lenses permitted, must be sufficient to read printed material the size of typewritten characters. Hearing loss, as measured by an audiometer, must not exceed 35 decibels at 1000, 2000, and 3000 Hz levels. Since the duties of these positions are exacting and responsible, and involve activities under trying conditions, applicants must possess emotional and mental stability.

Any physical condition that would cause the applicant to be a hazard to himself/herself, or others is disqualifying.

Specialized Experience for GS-09

You must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-07 level in the federal service or at an equivalent level, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as applying inspection, investigation, enforcement, and/or compliance principles, concepts, and methodologies; laws, regulations, guidelines, and precedent decisions; requirements of various legal jurisdictions;

and practices common to industries and entities regulated by applicable programs. These acquired knowledge and skills must demonstrate skill to independently perform duties such as: identify sources of information to detect illegal activity and document issues or probable cause; conduct investigations using accepted methodology and problem solving techniques; take statements from witnesses, third parties, and other knowledgeable persons; research, analyze, interpret, and evaluate data and information to make appropriate recommendations;

and prepare reports and technical information.

OR Education

Successful completion of a Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL. or J.D. that may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. To be creditable, education must have been obtained from an accredited college or university. (You MUST submit transcripts or proof of education to verify your claim.)

OR

Combination of experience and education

which when combined totals 100% of the necessary education and experience to qualify for this position. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. (You MUST provide transcripts or proof of education to verify your claim.)
