Position Overview

As a Security Operations Center Lead Operator at Galen College of Nursing, you will assist with establishing a centralized SOC to support safety and emergency response across 24 campuses nationwide. Initially, this position will perform hands‑on SOC operator duties while helping to develop processes, workflows, and operational standards. As the SOC becomes fully operational and additional Operators are hired, the SOC Lead Operator will transition into a supervisory role, providing direct oversight of SOC Operators while continuing to support daily operations and ensuring consistent, effective safety and emergency response across all campuses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead daily SOC operations, ensuring consistent monitoring, documentation, and response activities
  • Serve as the central point for receiving and routing campus safety calls and requests for assistance
  • Dispatch appropriate campus safety resources and coordinate responses as needed
  • Act as the escalation point for critical or high‑impact incidents
  • Maintain accurate incident logs and documentation for reporting and accountability
  • Monitor emerging threats, weather events, and safety risks using tools such as Dataminr and other open‑source intelligence platforms
  • Identify risks to campus safety, operations, reputation, or continuity and elevate as appropriate
  • Maintain and follow emergency response procedures during incidents
  • Coordinate incident response efforts across campuses
  • Prepare and disseminate Situation Reports (Sit Reps) to Galen leadership as required
  • Maintain current emergency and non‑emergency contact information for law enforcement, fire, and EMS at all campus locations
  • Manage and utilize campus safety technology platforms, including the Galen College Rave Alert system
  • In collaboration with IT and Facilities, support the operation of security cameras and access control/badge systems
  • Track the status and general location of executive leadership during travel, as required
  • Maintain liaison communication with the HCA Emergency Operations Center (Nashville, TN) for coordinated emergency response
  • SOC staff may be cross‑trained to support Campus Safety Officer (CSO) operations when needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on operational needs
Position Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 3–5 years of experience in security operations, dispatch, emergency operations, or a related field
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience in law enforcement, campus safety, private security, or customer service communications preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic computer proficiency for report writing, system monitoring, and alert dissemination
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and focused in stressful or emergency situations
  • Successful completion of required background screening
