Shift length varies by location: 8hr, 10hr, and 12hr shifts. 5‑8hr shifts per week, 4‑10hr shifts per week, 3‑12hr shifts per week.
Minimum Requirements- Valid, unrestricted driver’s license.
- High School Diploma or GED (certificates of completion not acceptable).
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must successfully complete the UofL Health Safety, Security, and Emergency Preparedness Training program.
- Background investigation and drug screen required.
- Must be able to use respiratory protection equipment and tight‑fitting respirators according to OSHA standards; medical and religious waivers may be granted on a case‑by‑case basis.
- Must have basic computer skills to operate surveillance cameras, door access systems, fire alarm systems, intrusion alarms, and panic alarms.
- Observe and remain vigilant for signs of crime, disorder, hazard, and unusual activity.
- Patrol on foot, bicycle, or vehicle to check for unsafe conditions, blocked entryways, security violations, mechanical problems, and unauthorized individuals.
- Sound alarms or call for police, fire department, or EMS in case of fires, medical emergencies, criminal activities, or presence of unauthorized persons.
- Respond to incidents of fire, medical emergency, bomb threat, flooding, water discharge, elevator emergency, hazardous materials, or inclement weather with calm urgency.
- Provide customer service to patients, visitors, and employees while carrying out safety and security procedures and site‑specific policies.
- Conduct regular and random patrols around the business and perimeter; conditions may vary by location.
- Orally and physically de‑escalate individuals and situations, as needed.
- Inspect all security devices and fire control equipment.
- Screen patients, visitors, and employees to expedite their admittance to the facilities.
- Assist with patient escort, patient watch, safety escort, or transport of deceased to the morgue as required.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies, procedures, and standards of conduct.
- Comply with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Observe and remain vigilant for signs of crime, disorder, hazard, and unusual activity.

- De‑escalate individuals orally and physically.
- Inspect security devices and fire control equipment.
- Screen members, visitors, and employees for facility admittance.

- Prepare reports and use basic computer skills.
- Demonstrate commitment to service and organizational values.
- Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive data.
- Adhere to organizational and department‑specific safety standards and guidelines.
- Work collaboratively and support team members.
- Provide exceptional customer service to physicians, patients, residents, visitors, staff, and the broader health care community.
