Performs repairs and maintenance on commercial HVAC/R equipment. Communicates with dispatcher regarding scheduling assignments as well as other field technicians for technical support/assistance. Performs functions within prescribed time allotments in a professional manner.
Essential Responsibilities- Servicing as a member of ad hoc service teams displaying timely, efficient and profitable accomplishment of assigned jobs and tasks
- Performing special or complicated service activities without assistance, including performing periodic on-call duties, as required.
- Assist lead technician in training employees on service related subjects and procedures.
- Conducting quality control inspections of installation and service jobs, monitoring the technical progress of newly assigned department employees
- Conducting point of work of IAQ services, unit components, unit replacements, add-on’s, service contracts, and developing lead referrals for the sales staff.
- Performing related duties as directed by the service manager
- Ordering all job materials and coordinating with the administrative assistant for the timely delivery of same
- Maintenance and safeguarding of personal protective equipment. Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Must understand and follow company safety policies and be able to instruct others in regard to proper job safety.
- Must have EPA Refrigerant Certification (minimum Level II)
- All other duties as assigned.
- Certified as KY Journeyman Mechanic. If not certified, a clear timeline will be established to obtain this certification.
- Ability to read and understand documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance manuals/instructions and procedure manuals.
- Must be capable of using common tools such as wrenches, hand tools, meters, gauges, electrical components for etc., on a continual daily basis
- Must be able to calculate figures and amounts as required for both paperwork and formulas relating to job function.
- Ability to work efficiently given time pressures, heavy workload requirements, weather, varying customer needs and demands and back log constraints.
- Good oral and reading skills, including the ability to read and apply manufacturers’ installation instructions and to clearly communicate with residential and commercial customers, suppliers, and other employees.
- Interest and initiative in maintaining his/her HVAC skills through a combination of self study, corporate training, workshops, and other development activities.
- Interest and initiative in being training on point of sales techniques including developing sales leads for sales of units, service contracts, etc.
- Must have a valid driver’s license. Driving history must be acceptable to Company’s Insurance Carrier.
- Ability to work efficiently given time pressures, non-standard schedule, extreme weather conditions, varying customer needs and demands, and back-loop constraints.
- Experience, knowledge, and proven skills in accurately diagnosing and efficiently accomplishing a job to the mutual benefit of the customer and the organization
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs.
- Requires bending, stooping, standing, balance, walk, twist and squat in order to access construction and equipment areas in order to complete construction/service tasks.
- Must be able to stand from six (6) to eight (8) hours per day. (Overtime may extend time period.)
- Must be able to handle heavy objects such as ladders, tools, equipment and other items needed to perform job function.
- Must be able to climb ladders and scaffolding.
- Good visual and spatial perception.
- Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions.
