Central State Hospital – Mechanical Technician – HVAC

Work Hours:

3:30 pm – midnight

• Inspects, repairs, and maintains all HVAC controls, machinery, fixtures, and equipment including electrical controls, refrigerant piping, valves, connections, fittings and couplings, chilled and hot water pumps, air handlers, refrigeration equipment, air compressors, air dryers, thermostats, and humidistats on all HVAC equipment, whether pneumatic, electrical, or electronic.
• De‑scales tubing, cuts and threads pipe, and makes pipe and electrical connections.
• Performs other duties as assigned to meet the demands of the department, including general maintenance such as plumbing, carpentry, flooring installation and repair, ceiling tile installation and repair, locksmithing, and landscaping.
• Subject to be called in on emergency situations and to work as needed.

• Journeyman HVAC License or Associate’s Degree in HVAC/refrigeration.
• Valid driver’s license.
• High school diploma or GED.
• 3 years experience in automation HVAC controls or refrigeration repairs.
• Knowledge of refrigeration systems or HVAC controls.
• Knowledge of plumbing, electric, and carpentry.
