Description

The Transportation and Receiving Clerk is responsible for coordinating inbound and outbound shipments, maintaining accurate transportation and receiving records. This role serves as a key link between carriers, receiving personnel, and internal departments to ensure the timely movement of goods and the accuracy of receiving transactions.

The Transportation and Receiving Clerk verifies shipment documentation, schedules transportation, resolves discrepancies, and supports administrative and logistics functions while maintaining compliance with company policies and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate delivery, shipment, and freight schedules with carriers, vendors, suppliers, and internal departments, excluding coils.
  • Prepare and maintain shipping and transportation documents, including bills of lading, delivery receipts, labels, and manifests.
  • Share shipment status and delivery schedule updates with carriers, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Track carrier performance and support freight cost monitoring.
  • Read and interpret work orders, packing slips, and technical labels.
  • Process receiving transactions and maintaining accurate transportation, receiving, and inventory records in the ERP or inventory management system.
  • Provide administrative support to the Logistics Manager and Logistics Coordinators.
  • Follow all safety procedures and OSHA regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.)
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and materials
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing or inventory control practices
  • Industrial manufacturing facility
  • Exposure to machinery, noise, and varying temperatures
  • Requires wearing PPE (safety shoes, gloves, eye protection)
