Senior Accounting Technician
Fleet Services is looking for a Senior Accounting Technician! This is a senior-level (lead or specialized) position in the Accounting Technician series. This role performs complex, specialized clerical and technical accounting duties that require thorough knowledge of bookkeeping, public agency accounting procedures, and fleet financial operations. The position plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting both operational and managerial accounting functions within Fleet.
This is an in-person Monday - Friday position.
What you'll be doing:
- Entering, balancing, and maintaining accounting data in computerized systems, ledgers, and financial records.
- Maintaining accounting summaries, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
- Preparing simple financial reports, projections, and departmental funding summaries.
- Implementing and maintaining efficient filing and recordkeeping systems.
- Providing guidance and assistance to staff on accounting methods and procedures.
- Researching and resolving clerical accounting discrepancies and recommending process improvements.
- May provide direct or indirect supervision of accounting clerical staff.
What we're looking for:
- General office, bookkeeping, accounting, and fiscal recordkeeping practices and procedures.
- Basic governmental accounting, budgeting, purchasing, billing, and financial reporting practices.
- Routine business software applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software.
- Fleet financial operations, including internal billing, asset transactions, fuel accounting, purchasing, and financial reconciliation.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with County employees, vendors, other agencies, and the public.
- Regular and dependable attendance required
All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.
- Three (3) years of experience maintaining financial and statistical records in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities required.
