Description
The Educational Assistant assists the classroom teacher in achieving educational goals for students. The role involves reinforcing curriculum with student groups or one-on-one sessions, supervising students in the classroom, lunchroom, playground, and on field trips.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Communicate with the teacher to meet classroom needs.
- Reinforce classroom curriculum with students.
- Collaborate with classroom teacher in supervising classroom behavior.
- Tutor individual students.
- Supervise and monitor students in various school settings (classroom, field trips, lunch period, and recess).
- Provide clerical support for teachers, office staff, and school administrators.
- Complete required documentation for curriculum and student records.
- Maintain an excellent working knowledge of all policies, procedures, and handbooks of RCS.
- Maintain professional and effective relationships with all RCS staff, board members, and families.
- Effectively communicate with students, parents, and staff.
- Oral and written communication.
- Basic math.
- Personal computer and keyboarding.
- Customer service, including attentive and active listening with all staff, students, parent/guardians and community members.
- Critical thinking and problem solving.
- Rules and regulations set forth by the Colorado Board of Education and ACSI Practices in Christian Schools.
- Mandated reporting of child abuse and neglect.
- Microsoft Office and other department related software packages.
- Recognize child abuse and child neglect signs and symptoms.
- Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
- Manage multiple priorities and multi-task with frequent interruptions.
- Diffuse and manage stressful situations.
- Work in a team environment and collaborate effectively with other departments to accomplish goals.
- Work independently with little or no supervision.
A High School diploma or equivalent is required. Two years of child development or working with children in a classroom environment experience is preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Google Sheets, and Google Documents is required.
Must have excellent planning skills, be highly organized and detail-oriented, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing environments and priorities. Must be a self-starter with the ability to work productively and meet benchmarks and goals in a timely fashion. Strong interpersonal, organizational, networking, facilitation and management skills are required.
Compensation and BenefitsWage range: $16.39-$16.94 per hour.

The position requires intermittent physical activity including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and lifting of up to 40 lbs on occasion. Must be able to talk, hear, stand, sit, and/or walk for extended periods of time. Must possess normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
