K-4 Teacher's Assistant
New Vision Charter School is seeking a teaching aide who shares our commitment to helping students achieve excellence in and out of the classroom. We seek to provide students with an academically rigorous, content-rich, Core Knowledge curriculum in an environment in which character is modeled and promoted.
Responsibilities- Experience working with students in grades K-8
- Experience in or familiarity with Core Knowledge Curriculum preferred

- Assists NVCS teaching staff in the teaching/learning process and knowledge of best instructional practices

- Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, office staff, students, parents, and community

- The majority of duties require being mobile & on your feet for most of the workday.
- Teaching aides assist with small groups, along with handling printing, laminating, and other similar duties.
- Ability to assist teaching staff with the supervision of special events and field trips to enrich the curriculum
- Basic math, writing, communication, and accounting skills.
- Intermediate knowledge of computer software and microcomputer skills.
- Ability to work with diverse student populations, handle multiple tasks, and maintain confidentiality.
- Operating knowledge of general office equipment, computer peripherals, audiovisual equipment, and automated library circulation software must be acquired within one month after hire.
- CDE Substitute teaching license is strongly encouraged but not required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Possess good oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrates correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary.
- Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of the post-offer screening process, including a CBI/FBI background check and fingerprint submittal.
- Must be able to pass a physical (push/pull/lift 50 pounds)
Compensation will be based on experience in the range of $19.50 per hour. Scheduled hours are based on 40 hrs per week with approximately 175 work days per year. Benefits include health, dental, vision & life insurance.
Safety to Self and Others- To safely perform this position, you must familiarize yourself with the safety rules of your job and participate in all safety training provided by your department. You must wear personal protective equipment whenever required, ask for assistance if the task requires more than one person, and if you're unsure how to perform a task safely, stop and ask your supervisor for instruction before continuing.
- All employees of the NVCS are responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy workplace and ensuring that safety precautions and practices are followed.
- We expect you to immediately report any unsafe working conditions or safety problems to your supervisor. Until corrective action is taken, be sure that the area or condition is restricted and that cautionary devices are in place so that others are not affected or injured.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
