Voluntary, Non-Stipended (meetings will be held during contract hours and be covered under PD in PTO designation)

Position Function:
The Teacher Leadership Advisory Council (TLAC) is a collaborative body comprised of teacher leaders who serve as a voice for staff and as advisors to the school leadership team. TLAC members support the continuous improvement of school-wide instructional practices, climate and culture, and operational systems. Members help shape initiatives, provide feedback, and support the implementation of school goals aligned to the school's mission and vision.
Leadership and Representation:
Represent the interests and perspectives of grade-level teams, departments, or specialized programs. Serve as a liaison between teachers and administration. Promote a positive, solutions-oriented school culture.
Advisory Role:
Participate in regular advisory council meetings (typically monthly). Provide input on key school decisions (e.g., professional development planning, schedules, instructional initiatives). Offer feedback on new programs, policies, and initiatives from the lens of classroom impact and teacher experience.
Collaboration and Communication:
Encourage feedback amongst colleagues on forms/surveys provided by administration and communicate relevant updates from TLAC meetings back to teams. Collaborate with other TLAC members during monthly meetings to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities for growth within the school. Partner with school leadership to co-develop action plans for school improvement.
Professional Learning and Growth:
Model professional leadership, reflective practice, and commitment to continuous improvement. Participate in occasional training, leadership development sessions, or planning retreats.
Current K8 certified teacher at the school with a minimum of one year of service at New Vision Charter School. Demonstrated commitment to instructional excellence and school improvement. Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. Respected by peers as a positive role model and leader.
Time CommitmentAttend monthly TLAC meetings (approximately 60-90 minutes). Occasional additional meetings or working groups (as needed). Time to gather and share feedback within grade level or content teams.
EquipmentUse standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.
Work ScheduleMonthly meetings (60-90) minutes within contract time. Administration will work with team members to find coverage for these meetings.

Culture and Climate Advocacy:
Knowledge of effective strategies for creating a supportive, inclusive, and respectful school environment. Familiarity with school wide culture/climate initiatives (PBIS, SEL, restorative practices, equity efforts, etc.). Ability to lead and support the implementation of culture-building strategies across grade levels.
Training and Facilitation
Skills:
Capable of leading or co-facilitating professional learning related to school priorities or climate and culture. Comfortable presenting or sharing best practices in staff meetings or PLCs. Willingness to participate in leadership training and bring new learning back to the team.
Commitment to Continuous Improvement:
Reflective practitioner with a desire to grow as an educator and leader. Uses data, feedback, and experience to inform decisions and support improvement efforts. Supports a culture of high expectations for both students and staff.
