The Senior Projects Manager performs engineering and project management while leading project teams in the planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance of the electrical distribution systems and associated enterprise software systems and interconnections. Additionally, this position is a resource for other employees and operations staff in providing technical knowledge in project delivery, internal design, and constructability reviews.

Essential Functions- Participate in long-term and current project planning for City electric infrastructure and associated technology implementations.
- Manage the selection and contracting of outside consultants and contractors to complete capital infrastructure and technology/software projects.
- Manage the implementation process of capital technology and/or infrastructure projects including change management, performance-based testing/inspection/quality control, and coordination with other City Departments, Platte River Power Authority (PRPA), and other external entities.
- Complete budgeting tasks for upcoming projects and assist the Electrical Engineering Management team with the compilation of the 10-year Capital Improvement Plan and associated budget.
- Work closely with Utility Solutions & Technology, IT, and pertinent Electric Utility teams to ensure project needs are planned for and completed on time and budget.
- Make technical and budgetary presentations regarding capital projects to the Loveland Utilities Commission and City Council.
- Assist with internal design and delivery of small capital projects or technology implementations.
- Coordinate with PRPA, software implementation vendors/contractors, external consultants, etc.
- Perform project management of emergency projects that arise at substations and/or electric distribution system.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- There are no supervisor/manager expectations for this role.
- Required:
4 Year/Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, Information Technology (IT), Geographical Systems (GIS), Construction Management, or a closely related field.
- Required:
8 years engineering and/or project management experience including planning and implementation of highly integrated enterprise software systems. - Required:
3 years management or supervisory experience. - Preferred:
Some software system implementations related to Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Esri Utility Network, Distributed Energy Resources Management Systems (DERMS), Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS), or Outage Management Systems (OMS).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license, or certifications such as Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred.
- Thorough understanding of information database structures, software systems, and integration methods.
- Knowledge and experience in budgeting, design, administration, and implementation management of utility software systems.
- Ability to use computer software packages including project management, Excel, Word, Outlook.
- Ability to interact positively with a wide variety of people.
- Ability to independently solve complex problems, provide accurate and error-free work under pressure and meet reasonable deadlines.
- Superior written and oral communication skills.
- Frequent:
Light to moderate physical effort that includes frequent standing or walking or maintaining arms and hands in the same position for repetitive tasks. Frequently works with light objects and light hand tools. - Frequent:
Exposure to routine office noise and equipment. - Occasional:
