Reporting to the Supervisor, Period End Close & Accounting Support, Retail, the full-time position of Analyst, Period End Close & Accounting Support, Retail is responsible for working closely with the outsource team and collaborating with colleagues across Nutrien’s global operations.
What You'll Do- Review journal entries and/or work completed by the outsource team on allocations to and from branches, plants, departments, segments, and other allocations for the Retail business, including allocations crossing legal entities and ERP systems.
- Coordinate, prepare and/or review journal entries and work completed by the outsource team for period end close accruals, prepaids, reversals, adjustments, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Coordinate with other teams to receive information required for calculating/posting accruals/prepaids.
- Review monthly closing activities for the Retail business, including balance sheet reconciliations, allocations, and journal entries.
- Coordinate and control the closing process with the outsource team within ERP systems.
- Perform review of trial balances (e.g., accruals, transaction types).
- Complete variance analysis of prepaid expenses and accruals as part of month-end close activities.
- Complete intercompany and intersystem analysis for allocations crossing legal entities and ERPs when necessary.
- Transition activities for tasks transitioning from other areas (e.g., Retail Center of Excellence) to RTR.
- Develop, implement, and calculate Allocation methodologies and communicate with stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the Supervisor to develop, implement, consistently apply, and update Allocation and Period End Close governance protocols and policies.
- Support ongoing initiatives and projects as required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years accounting experience; financial statement preparation a plus.
- Experience in a finance-related role; preference for those with an accounting designation.
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent computer skills (ERP – People Soft and SAP; Microsoft Office – Excel).
- Ability to learn multiple processes and support other positions.
- Strong prioritization and organizational skills.
- Highly detail oriented.
- Process improvement mindset.
- Agriculture business knowledge is an asset.
- Knowledge of accounting principles; IFRS experience is considered an asset.
The salary range for this role, in Loveland, CO, is between $59,300 - $101,700. This range is general guidance; actual compensation depends on factors such as skill set, experience, licensure, location, and business needs. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability coverage for full-time roles, a retirement program with employer matching, paid vacation, sick days, holidays, and paid personal and maternity/parental leaves.

In addition to base pay, this role is eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan where discretionary pay reflects company and individual performance. Details will be discussed through the application process.
