SUMMARY

The Community & Business Banker delivers personalized client service by holding financial conversations with clients and prospects to determine needs and provide appropriate solutions. This position will be responsible for maintaining client relationships, with an emphasis on First Interstate Bank's Service Commitments and in accordance with our vision and values.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Delivers personalized client service in person and over the phone by answering client questions, assisting with issues, and offering solutions.
  • Opens and maintains a variety of products, including consumer and business checking and savings accounts, Individual Retirement Accounts, Certificates of Deposit, consumer and small business credit cards, and is proficient in originating all types of personal loans.
  • Processes new consumer and new small business loan requests.
  • Holds financial conversations with clients and prospects to determine needs and provide appropriate solutions.
  • Identifies referral opportunities to other lines of business—Home Loans, Treasury Solutions, Merchant Services, Business Banking, and Wealth Management—fully embracing and utilizing 360 View to document referrals and other client activity.
  • Builds client relationships through outbound engagement and proactive measures.
  • Performs teller duties as needed, conducting a variety of financial transactions such as check cashing, deposits, withdrawals, processing loan payments, and accurately counting currency and coin.
  • Completes work accurately with minimal errors.
  • Participates in volunteer activities and financial education efforts.
  • Stays current on regulatory changes and demonstrates compliance with all bank regulations, policies, and procedures related to assigned job functions, applying standards appropriately; knowledge may be gained through coursework and on‑the‑job training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Maintains confidentiality at all times.
  • Uses tact and diplomacy effectively when interacting with clients and coworkers.
  • Possesses working knowledge of personal computers, Microsoft software programs, and strong 10‑key skills.
  • Maintains working knowledge of digital platforms, CRM systems, and emerging technologies.
  • Able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Able to write simple correspondence.
  • Able to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small‑group situations to clients and other employees.
  • Basic math skills: add, subtract, multiply, divide, compute rates and percentages, draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Able to apply common‑sense understanding to carry out detailed but uncomplicated written or oral instructions.
  • Able to solve problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Demonstrates timely completion of work and adjusts to workload demands to meet expected deadlines.
  • Produces complete and accurate work, displaying pride and professionalism.
  • Takes personal initiative and serves as a positive example.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • Associate's Degree preferred.
  • 1–3 years banking or related experience required.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Registered Mortgage Loan Originator per the SAFE Act within 30 days required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

The physical demands and work environment are representative of those that must be met or encountered to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Dexterity of hands/fingers to operate computer keyboard and mouse; frequently handling, hearing, speaking, walking. Occasionally lifting up to 25 lbs. Sit/stand frequently. Noise level moderate. Typical work hours vary based on scheduling and business need. Regular and predictable attendance required.

Travel as needed.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
