description of duties/essential functions

under administrative direction of the assistant warden of operations, supervises and directs a security force on an assignment shift; implements and maintains programs conducive to security and rehabilitative needs of inmates; conducts security investigations; verifies compliance of administrative and institutional directives and policies; prepares a variety of reports; implements policies and procedures; receives and approves roster master sheets for shift assignments;

serves as duty administrative officer; supervises staff.

• requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college
• requires three years of progressively responsible supervisory experience in a custody program in a correctional facility
• requires thorough knowledge of facility rules, regulations and requirements for the control of residents
• requires thorough knowledge of prison administration
• requires thorough understanding of attitudes, problems and behavior of residents in a correctional facility
• requires thorough knowledge of professional methods and analysis and treatment of residents
