Hydraulic Cylinder Technician
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Hydraulic Cylinder Technician to join our team. This position is responsible for thetear-down, inspection, repair, reassembly, and testing of hydraulic cylindersused in various industrial and mobile equipment. The ideal candidate will havea strong mechanical aptitude, hands-on experience with hydraulic components,and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities:
- Disassemble hydraulic cylinders for diagnostic inspection and cleaning.
- Inspect components such as rods, barrels, seals, pistons, and glands for wear, damage, or defects.
- Document findings and determine necessary repairs or replacements.
- Replace seals, bushings, and other internal components as needed.
- Reassemble hydraulic cylinders according to manufacturer specifications.
- Test completed cylinders for proper function and hydraulic integrity.
- Operate hand tools, hydraulic presses, torque wrenches, and precision measuring instruments.
- Accurately use and distinguish between metric and standard measurement systems.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Assist with inventory control and parts ordering for hydraulic repairs.
- Collaborate with other technicians and supervisors to ensure job efficiency and quality.
- High school diploma or GED; technical or trade school preferred.
- 2+ years of experience working with hydraulic systems or cylinder repair (preferred).
- Must provide own hand tools appropriate for the trade.
- Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and repair manuals.
- Familiarity with hydraulic testing equipment and safety procedures.
- Required:
forklift operation experience and current certification (or ability to obtain prior to start date). - Must have a valid driver's license to operate company vehicles, including forklifts.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Shop setting with moderate noise levels and frequent use of heavy tools and equipment.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
