The Production Chemist serves as the primary technical chemistry resource for manufacturing operations, supporting Chem Key activities, process troubleshooting, quality verification, and production validation efforts. This role works closely with Operations, Quality, Engineering, and R&D to ensure processes are safe, stable, compliant, and capable of consistently producing products that meet quality standards. The Production Chemist analyzes process and quality data, investigates manufacturing issues, leads validation studies, and implements continuous improvement initiatives to optimize product quality, process performance, and operational efficiency.

Through technical expertise and cross‑functional collaboration, this position helps drive manufacturing excellence and supports the successful introduction and sustainment of products and processes.

In this role, a typical day will look like:
  • Serve as the primary chemistry resource for production operations, providing Chem Key support and technical guidance to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct process validation studies, production trials, and qualification activities for new products, raw materials, equipment, and process changes to ensure successful implementation and manufacturing readiness.
  • Monitor critical process parameters and production performance metrics to identify trends, assess process capability, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Operations, Engineering, and Research & Development teams to evaluate process deviations, support investigations, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Review and analyze production, laboratory, and quality data to verify process consistency, identify opportunities for optimization, and support decision‑making.
  • Support change management activities by assessing the impact of process, equipment, raw material, and formulation changes, and developing validation plans as required.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve manufacturing procedures, work instructions, process flows, and quality verification protocols to ensure standardization and operational excellence.
  • Provide technical training and coaching to production personnel on chemical processes, process controls, and quality requirements.
  • Lead and support process troubleshooting activities by investigating production issues, identifying root causes, evaluating corrective actions, and implementing sustainable solutions to improve process reliability and product quality.
  • Participate in nonconformance investigations, customer complaints, out‑of‑specification events, and corrective action activities to drive continuous improvement and prevent recurrence.
