The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) supports plasma center operations under the guidance of the Center Manager and the Center Physician. Responsibilities include determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable results. The role requires familiarity with plasma collection regulations and compliance with EHS guidelines.
How you will contribute- Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, self‑exclusion, medical history, physical exam, blood testing, and review of serological protein electrophoresis.
- Evaluate donor reactions and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including donor transport and standing orders.
- Consult the Center Physician or Medical Affairs on medical findings and donor safety.
- Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and coordinate with occupational health as needed.
- Serve as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS.
- High school diploma or equivalent, including graduates of a recognized nursing program with state requirements.
- Current state license or certification as EMT‑Paramedic.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- State licensure requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Completion of FDA‑approved training for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years of clinical or hospital experience.
U.S. Hourly Wage Range: $28.16 - $38.72.
