Job Overview

Senior Firmware Engineer – Embedded Systems (Electrical Engineers) Reporting to the Director of R&D Loggers, the Senior Firmware Engineer leads and implements software features, ensures delivery of high‑quality, secure code, and collaborates across teams to sustain and grow applications.

• Lead and attend design sessions for product features.
• Implement product features with minimal oversight.
• Participate in or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide among available technologies.
• Contribute to software architecture decisions with maintainability and extensibility in mind.
• Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware.
• Ensure delivery of high‑quality code that optimizes the company's investment.
• Continually sustain and grow the embedded software as technologies evolve.

• Bachelor’s degree or 3+ years of relevant software development experience.
• Strong object‑oriented design and programming skills.
• Proficiency in understanding hardware system constraints.
• Proficiency in building maintainable software with testing and extensibility in mind.
• Understanding of software architecture and testing fundamentals.

• Experience building embedded systems in C/C++.
• Reading and understanding hardware datasheets and schematics.
• Hardware bring‑up experience.
• Experience with Modbus, RS485, RS232, SDI‑12.
• Experience with ARM Cortex‑M processors.
• Experience with FreeRTOS or other modern RTOS.
• Experience using logic analyzers.
• Debugging embedded software using debug probes.
• Assembly language proficiency.
• Experience with CMake.
• Experience with continuous integration.
• Experience refactoring and improving legacy code.
• Experience with BLE, cellular modems, and satellite modems.
