Northern Colorado Regional Airport (FNL) is a commercial Service Airport under the FAA’s Part 139 and TSA 1542. FNL is the 5th busiest airport in Colorado. With major infrastructure investments including a new terminal building and a $20M runway widening project, FNL is increasing commercial air service and continued regional growth. We are seeking a detail-oriented, safety-driven Airport Operations Technician to help support and maintain a safe, compliant, and efficient airfield environment for all airport users.

Under the direction of the Airport Operations Manager, the Airport Operations Technician ensures the airport’s operational safety, regulatory compliance, and airfield readiness. This role performs daily airfield inspections, maintenance, repairs, and operational tasks required to meet FAA Part 139 standards and TSA Part 1542 security requirements. The position works collaboratively with the operations team, FAA, ATC, Certification and Security Inspectors, city departments, local police and fire, and all stakeholders including airlines, corporate and general aviation tenants while promoting a positive, professional, and safety-focused work culture.

Requires weekend availability and twenty-four (24) hour on-call response when requested to events such as aircraft emergencies, special events, and snow removal during winter months, including weekends and holidays.

Required to pass the TSA background check requirements and must be able to obtain clearance to work within airport secured areas.

Job Summary:

Duties include maintaining the operational readiness of all safety and security protocols, programs and equipment to meet and or exceed requirements outlined in the Airport Certification Manual. The Northern Colorado Regional Airport operates 24 hours per day; 365 days per year. This entails maintaining the airfield infrastructure and operational areas to the highest levels including the achievement of airport safety in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Code of Federal Regulations Title 14 Part 139 and airport security in accordance with Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Regulations Title 49 Part 1542 and the actions and behaviors of all airport tenants, stakeholders, operators and guest.

The salary range for this position is $25.42 - $34.32
per hour with ahiring range of$25.42 - $29.87
,depending on qualifications and experience.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform and document daily airfield inspections in accordance with FAA Part 139 regulations and advisory circulars during all 4 defined seasons of Colorado.
  • Maintain compliance with all airfield safety, operational, and security standards outlined in the Airport Certification Manual and TSA Part 1542 and the Airport Security Plan.
  • Respond to airfield incidents, irregular operations, tenant concerns and emergency situations.
  • Operate aviation radios and support 24/7 nonemergency airport communications.
  • After required training, assist the Airport Security Coordinator with airport security compliance and enforcement of the Airport Security Plan.
  • Perform all duties safely within an active airfield environment.
  • Monitor airport weather conditions and i ssues Notices to Air Missions ( NOTAMS) as needed to ensure safe airport operations.
  • Support winter operations, including snow and Ice control using heavy and light equipment.
  • Assist with airfield construction oversight to ensure compliance with FAA, Federal, state, and local rules and safety requirements.
  • Conduct maintenance, repair, and alteration of airfield pavements, lighting systems, buildings, hangars, grounds, and airport equipment.
