Job DescriptionAn experienced Environmental & Regulatory Specialist is responsible for providing regulatory planning, permitting, and compliance support for field operations and project execution. This role works closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure environmental reviews, permits, and regulatory requirements are integrated into project planning and execution at the local, state, and federal levels. The position also supports compliance assurance, environmental stewardship, and coordination with operational teams through project completion and handover.
Responsibilities- Provide environmental and regulatory planning, permitting, and compliance support for field and project operations
- Participate in cross-functional project teams to ensure environmental and regulatory requirements are identified, secured, and maintained
- Ensure compliance with internal environmental policies, procedures, and operational excellence standards
- Develop and implement regulatory, permitting, and environmental contracting strategies
- Maintain and strengthen working relationships with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies
- Support environmental review, permitting processes, surface management, and land access coordination
- Collect, track, and analyze regulatory and compliance metrics
- Provide environmental and regulatory guidance to operations and project teams
- Support well operations by verifying cementing and abandonment activities align with approved plans and regulatory requirements, including:
- Cement plug and squeeze parameters (type, volume, displacement, and placement)
- Verification of depths, volumes, and final cement tops per approved programs
- Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of regulatory and operational verification activities
- Coordinate final handover of wells or sites to reclamation or restoration teams
- Serve as an informal technical resource and mentor to less experienced team members
- Typically 5–7 years of relevant experience in environmental, regulatory, or operations support roles
- Strong understanding of environmental permitting, compliance, and regulatory frameworks
- Ability to apply technical knowledge to complex regulatory and operational challenges
- Experience developing recommendations and making decisions within broad guidelines
- Familiarity with oil and gas operations, including wellsite activities and cementing processes
- Strong analytical skills with experience tracking and interpreting regulatory metrics
- Effective communication and collaboration skills across technical and operational teams
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated commitment to environmental stewardship, safety, and compliance
Pay: $55.10/per hour
Location: Lovington, NM
Schedule: Monday-Friday
