Position: Staff Development Coordinator- RN

Overview

Lovington Healthcare is a long‑term care facility. The Registered Nurse (RN) will build the clinical department in accordance with current Federal, State and company standards, guidelines and regulations. The RN will demonstrate and teach resident care in classroom and clinical units to nursing staff, and instruct in the principles and application of physical, biological and psychological subjects related to nursing and resident care.

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse will serve as a passionate leader, building the clinical department and teaching resident care to nursing staff. The RN will provide leadership and staff development programs, ensuring compliance with regulations and fostering teamwork.

Qualifications
  • Currently licensed as an RN in the state of practice.
  • Associate or Bachelor Degree from an accredited nursing school preferred
    .
  • Five years in long‑term or acute health care preferred
    .
  • At least 2 years of nursing education experience required.
Responsibilities
  • Assesses the training needs of nursing staff to develop, implement, evaluate and document staff development programs including orientation, in‑service and continuing education.
  • Identifies, plans, implements, directs and evaluates educational programs based upon individual facility needs, resident needs and in compliance with State and Federal regulations.
  • Responsible for the planning, coordinating and conducting required in‑service programs and/or special training sessions in compliance with applicable laws and corporate requirements.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Nursing to complete periodic needs assessments and assists in developing and conducting educational programs.
  • Maintains appropriate documentation of educational programming, each employee’s attendance and competency validation.
  • Develops, implements and maintains a written annual staff development plan for nursing personnel.
  • Coordinates job‑specific orientation for new nursing department hires.
  • Act as preceptor, coach, and resource person to assist nursing department employees to successfully complete orientation.
  • Monitors staff for compliance with OSHA mandates and facility safety policies, and develops procedures to promote workplace safety.
  • Supervises development and delivery of in‑service education to equip staff with knowledge and skills for quality care and resident rights.
  • Develops positive employee relations, incentives, and recognition programs to promote teamwork and communication.
  • Maintains up‑to‑date personnel files with each employee’s educational information.
  • Assists in planning, coordinating, and conducting training to ensure compliance with the Quality Improvement program.
  • Establishes an annual budget that provides necessary resources to achieve program objectives.
  • Assists with demonstrations to acquaint staff with new equipment and review established equipment.
  • During training provides supervision and oversight of employees to ensure skills are performed as outlined in nursing procedures.
  • Reviews employee performance during skills observations.
  • Ensures employees satisfactorily complete orientation and other assigned training sessions.
