Job Summary

Under general direction, the Sr Manager Sales is responsible for managing a team of sales personnel and directing them in their day-to‑day responsibilities while developing a strategy for the team to ensure daily duties are accomplished. The incumbent helps the team define the opportunity strategy to sell J.B. Hunt services, align internal teams on executing the strategy, and establish and grow a book of business.

Responsibilities include developing and growing employees, applying a vast knowledge of J.B. Hunt internal systems, and executing business with excellent customer service and profitable growth through team management. This role promotes and fosters a customer‑centric culture by influencing a team, and by interacting with both external and internal clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead talent identification, development, performance, and overall management efforts for a sales team.
  • Manage performance of personnel by monitoring key performance indicators to ensure sales objectives are met.
  • Promote customer success by ensuring an excellent customer experience and pro‑actively identifying customer inefficiencies to increase stakeholder satisfaction and operational efficiency.
  • Assist direct reports in coordinating with internal teams and the customer to implement the customer’s solution and maximize sales volume potential for products and services.
  • Provide day‑to‑day support for employees and customers, often by working with leadership to handle internal and external issues that have escalated beyond the scope of the incumbent’s direct reports.
  • Collaborate and influence internal groups to optimize business processes—receivables, payables, sales, pricing, and operations.
  • Foster an inclusive team environment and promote inclusivity in customer interactions.
  • Train sales personnel on customer presentations and quarterly business reviews.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school or GED required.
  • 3–4 years of customer experience/account management or transportation/logistics experience, or 2–3 years of sales experience, or demonstration of the following skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiences:
  • Experience working through change management.
  • Experience excelling in a high‑volume, fast‑paced work environment.
  • Experience working in transportation.
  • Ability to work in a competitive environment.
  • Demonstrated sales focus.
  • Holding people accountable/difficult conversations.
  • Demonstrated financial acumen.
  • Ability to motivate and lead a successful team.
  • Ability to create a customer‑centric environment.
  • Ability to influence and motivate beyond the organizational level.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Transportation Logistics.
  • 3–4 years of sales, customer experience, and account management experience, and/or 5+ years of transportation/logistics experience.
Compensation

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the terms of the Company’s bonus and incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.
