Job Title:
Mortgage Lender Trainee
Under the supervision and guidance of the assigned manager, the Mortgage Lender Trainee is responsible for learning the fundamentals of effective origination, underwriting, analysis, closing and servicing of 1-4 family residential real estate loans. The incumbent will remain current on all mortgage products to offer professional guidance to borrowers in their search for financing. The incumbent will proactively learn and search for cross-selling opportunities to maximize revenue generation.
The Mortgage Lender Trainee will minimize risk exposure by adhering to all federal, state and internal compliance regulations, policies and procedures. Trainees are recommended to transition to a lending role within 12 months.

What You Will Do at Arvest: (Other duties may be assigned.)
• Develop an understanding of the mortgage lending process. Under the guidance of a seasoned lender, accept borrower applications, evaluate and place them in the best possible loan products for approval. Know, understand and follow the Arvest lending policy.
• Work with a seasoned lender in learning the underwriting guidelines for FHA, Fannie Mae and other programs; understand the programs and guidelines required for loan approval. Additionally, learn the fundamental skills of sales and networking to increase customer relationships.
• Follow up with customers to obtain necessary trailing documents.
• Provide administrative marketing and sales support to the seasoned lender, including preparation, presentation, and participation in seminars or information sessions for realtors, builders, etc.
• Proactively learn and build a knowledge base of identifiable opportunities to appropriately strengthen the customer relationship with Arvest. Listen to the customer, identify a potential need and adequately introduce a cross-selling product or referral to meet that need.
• Understand and comply with bank policy, laws, regulations, and the bank's BSA/AML Program, as applicable to your job duties. This includes but is not limited to complete compliance training and adhere to internal procedures and controls; report any known violations of compliance policy, laws, or regulations and report any suspicious customer and/or account activity.

Toolbox for Success:
• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
• 2 years of sales experience required.
• Current NMLS SAFE Act Registration or the ability to be registered within 30 days required.
• Banking or mortgage/real estate experience preferred.
• An Associate's degree in a related field is preferred.
• Relevant military experience is considered for veterans and transitioning service members.
Physical Demands:
