Job Summary

Watco Supply Chain Services is looking for an innovative self-starter to help evolve our strategic investment in transportation management technology for our Supply Chain Services operating unit. This role is primarily responsible for management, maintenance and extension of the functionality and solution framework provided by our third party solution providers. Duties include daily administration, requirements definition and documentation, task prioritization and vendor management.

The individual will also be accountable for coordinating testing and release management. Strategically, the individual will work with the business to understand objectives and desired solutions, architect solutions within a governed framework, with the objective of facilitating increased efficiency and effectiveness for the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage relationship with third party application providers.
  • Develop and maintain a ‘task list’ with application providers.
  • Build credible and strong trust-based relationship with stakeholders.
  • Monitor and control enhancement and trouble ticket tasks with responsibility for ensuring on-time delivery, and within budget.
  • Proactively manage risks and issues to the overall delivery and work with the relevant stakeholders to develop and action appropriate mitigation strategies
  • Organize resources, work under tight deadlines, to deliver required application fixes and enhancements.
  • Effectively communicate all application changes to stakeholders.
  • Provide clear, concise status reports, metrics and updates to senior client stakeholders and sponsors outlining progress against agreed schedule, scope, cost and quality constraints on a structured and ad-hoc basis.
  • Work with IT resources to ensure system functions are in-line with customer and project requirements
  • Provide end user application support around functionality.
  • Maintain rosters of users in each application, including authorized functionality for each.
  • May assist sales team with scoping projects and developing proposals.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
  • Strong communication (written and oral) and listening skills must complement product knowledge and enable the applicant to provide clear instruction and assistance in person, over the phone or via email.
  • Customer service skills including the ability to meet goals in a timely manner, action-oriented, take ownership, manage time and work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
Qualifications
  • A 4-year college degree in a relevant field is preferred; or commensurate industry experience
  • Minimum of 5 years application management experience
  • Demonstrable business development, personnel training and sales successes
  • Demonstrable operations knowledge
  • Strong time management skills
  • Strong organization, project and personnel management skills
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office to include Excel and Word.
  • Experience with logistics Transportation Management Systems a plus.
  • Working knowledge of standard transportation EDI documents a plus.
  • Self-Starter capable of working independently and making decisions with limited supervision
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentations skills with the capability to create an environment where there is motivation for free thinking of ideas
  • Conduct business analysis and research for large or unusual projects and for projects introducing new technology or new business processes.
  • Build implementation plans which often involve multiple vendors, multiple jurisdictions, and cross agency cooperation.
