Job Summary
Under routine supervision, this Capacity Coordinator I is responsible for the coordination of a small-sized/less complex group of carriers and/or independently contracted drivers. This position ensures safe and timely service through accurate planning, routing, monitoring, and delivery of freight and loads. The incumbent must be able to work any shift to satisfy the demand for flexibility in scheduling, including day, night, and weekend shifts.
Key Responsibilities- Build and maintain positive, professional, safe, and reliable relationships with carriers and/or independently contracted drivers to ensure seamless new carrier set‑up, minimize turnover, and maximize ongoing productivity.
- Develop knowledge of how to optimize operations and maximize profitability through understanding key performance indicators.
- Create, maintain, and present customer‑specific reporting and financial analysis.
- Manage inventory, assets, customer pools, and/or assignment of carriers and/or independent contracted drivers to balance equipment in the market.
- Perform administrative duties such as submitting payroll, managing the Net‑Revenue budget, filing and documenting, resolving settlement issues, invoicing, and creating reports.
- Coordinate yard duties such as checking/inspecting equipment and partnering with maintenance to ensure all preventative maintenance services are scheduled on time and all safety‑related mechanical issues are fixed for account equipment as required.
- Act as liaison between carriers and/or independently contracted drivers, customers, and company personnel to resolve service issues, routing and/or planning, mechanical problems, accessorial pay‑related issues, etc. as they occur throughout the day and, where necessary, when on call.
- Maintain the company’s safety culture by complying with external & internal regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Assign loads and plan, route, and monitor freight movement to provide safe, on‑time service and meet customer requirements, including managing exceptions based on pick‑up and delivery schedules and other environmental factors on the road.
- High School Diploma/GED with 1–2 years of experience in transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, or equivalent military experience.
- Ability to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends.
- Strong professional communication skills applied internally and externally.
- Proven experience in establishing and maintaining healthy working relationships.
- Experience in fostering strong customer relationships via delivery of commitments, open communication, and ongoing feedback/improvement.
- Ability to process information with high levels of accuracy.
- Accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
- Experience in Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
- Ability to consistently travel to account and customer locations.
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment and shifting priorities and directives.
- Experience in holding people accountable and conducting difficult conversations.
- Ability to perform in a stressful and high‑pressure work environment.
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field, and 1 year of experience in transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, and/or equivalent military experience.
ShiftMonday & Friday 6 AM to 5 PM;
Saturday & Sunday 7 AM to 6 PM.
This position is not eligible for employment‑based sponsorship.
CompensationThe starting pay for this position is determined by skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications. The position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the company’s bonus and incentive plans.

EducationHigh School Diploma/GED required. Bachelor’s degrees in Transportation Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration/Management are preferred.
Work ExperienceExperience in customer service/account management, business administration, and transportation/logistics.
