Under routine supervision, this Capacity Coordinator I is responsible for coordinating a small group of carriers and/or independently contracted drivers. The role ensures safe and timely freight service through accurate planning, routing, monitoring, and delivery. The incumbent must work any shift—including day, night, and weekend—to meet operational demands.
Key Responsibilities- Build and maintain positive, professional, safe, and reliable relationships with carriers and/or independently contracted drivers to ensure seamless new carrier set‑up, minimize turnover, and maximize productivity.
- Develop knowledge of how to optimize operations and maximize profitability through key performance indicators.
- Create, maintain, and present customer‑specific reporting and financial analysis.
- Manage inventory, assets, customer pools, and/or assignment of carriers and/or drivers to balance equipment in the market.
- Perform administrative duties such as submitting payroll, managing the Net‑Revenue budget, filing and documenting, resolving settlement issues, invoicing, and creating reports.
- Coordinate yard duties—checking/inspecting equipment and partnering with maintenance to schedule preventive maintenance and address safety‑related mechanical issues for account equipment.
- Act as liaison between carriers, drivers, customers, and company personnel to resolve service issues, planning/routing challenges, mechanical problems, accessorial pay issues, and other concerns.
- Maintain the company’s safety culture by complying with external and internal regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Assign loads; plan, route, and monitor freight movement to provide safe, on‑time service and meet customer requirements, including managing exceptions based on pick‑up and delivery schedules and other environmental factors.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED with 1–2 years of experience in transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, or equivalent military experience.
- Ability to work across multiple shifts, including nights and weekends.
- Strong professional communication skills, both internal and external.
- Experience establishing and maintaining healthy working relationships.
- Skill in fostering strong customer relationships through commitment delivery, open communication, and ongoing feedback.
- High accuracy in processing information.
- Ability to analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
- Willingness to travel to account and customer locations as needed.
- Adaptability to a dynamic work environment and shifting priorities.
- Experience holding people accountable and conducting difficult conversations.
- Ability to perform in a stressful and high‑pressure work environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- At least one year of experience in transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, or equivalent military experience.
Monday & Friday: 6AM to 5PM;
Saturday & Sunday: 7AM to 6PM
Starting pay within the posted range may be influenced by skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications. The position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes, in accordance with the Company’s bonus and incentive plans.
