- The laboratory assistant works with our senior staff to process lab samples, perform tests, and record and analyze results.
- Builds and/or adapts basic setup and test equipment for performance of tests. Performs tests using general laboratory equipment.
- Performs routine care of designated test equipment and work area.
- Operates computer terminal to extract/input readily available information and to use available software.
- As directed follows defined test plans and datasheets.
- Evaluates test performance and sample operation to properly evaluate test results.
- Records and explains test results.
- Reads and interprets results of tests.
- Prepares charts, graphs and reports to explain test results.
- Examines test samples, reads measuring instruments and reviews test data with supervisor.
- Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams and operational instructions.
- As instructed examines customer samples and learns to operate basic tests for each case. Communicates with customers during setup and operation to ensure proper evaluation.
- Operates designated laboratory equipment and tools as directed.
- Receives instructions from and reports data to engineers and other laboratory technician staff.
- Records observed or calculated data on appropriate data sheets.
- Develops working knowledge of the job, methods, instrumentation and systems.
- Integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job.
- Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices.
- Performs other duties as directed.
- Bachelors degree in a relevant scientific field and a good understanding of laboratory information systems and laboratory equipment.
- These are new positions for a 2nd shift being created at the Hardlines-Lowell facility.
- Please note the hours as 1pm-9:30pm.
- Each of these positions will convert to full time.
- We are looking for staff that have some level of technical or manufacturing related background.
- The staff will be testing consumer products to various quality and regulatory standards so they must be proficient with English (read and write).
- Candidates that know how to use various mechanical tools (tape measure, calipers, scales, power tools, saws, presses etc.)
