Work schedule:

Monday - Friday, 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM

Overview

The Laboratory Assistant collaborates with senior staff to process lab samples, execute standardized testing, and accurately record and analyze data. This role involves maintaining designated test equipment, operating computer systems, preparing analytical reports, and supporting overall continuous improvement within the laboratory environment.

Job Specifications
  • Process lab samples, perform tests, and record/analyze results with senior staff
  • Build and adapt basic setups and equipment to perform performance tests using general laboratory tools
  • Maintain routine care of designated test equipment and the immediate work area
  • Utilize computer terminals to input/extract information and work with available software
  • Follow defined test plans and datasheets as directed
  • Evaluate test performance and sample operations to interpret and explain results accurately
  • Prepare charts, graphs, and reports to illustrate test data
  • Examine test samples, read measuring instruments, and review data with supervisors
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and operational instructions
  • Examine customer samples and learn to operate basic tests for individual cases
  • Communicate with customers during setup and operation to ensure proper evaluation
  • Receive instructions from and report data to engineers and lab technician staff
  • Record observed or calculated data onto appropriate data sheets
  • Develop a working knowledge of job methods, instrumentation, and systems
  • Integrate continuous improvement concepts and techniques into daily tasks
  • Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and adhere to physical and digital security practices
  • Perform other duties as directed
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field required
  • Good understanding of laboratory information systems and general laboratory equipment required
