Job Summary
Under routine supervision, the Night Campus Security Officer I is responsible for maintaining the security, safety, and well‑being of all personnel and visitors at J.B. Hunt corporate NWA locations. The role protects company assets against theft, assault, fire, and other safety issues, and completes additional safety training classes as assigned.
ScheduleSunday – Tuesday and every other Wednesday, 6:00PM – 6:00AM.
Key Responsibilities- Adhere to security systems, technologies, operating standards, and procedures; enforce company policies fairly and professionally.
- Provide tactical responses to emergency events, administer medical attention (CPR, First Aid), mitigate threats, enlist additional resources, and ensure overall well‑being of impacted parties.
- Guide security measures and assist employees and visitors within assigned areas during incidents.
- Respond to security department calls and system alarms to determine the course of action.
- Perform building patrols to detect unsafe conditions, hazards, security violations, blocked exits, and unauthorized personnel; create patrol logs and report issues to senior team members or management.
- Grant access to employees and enforce identification procedures on the corporate campus; create and log temporary security credentials.
- Identify and write reports on accidents, incidents, or suspicious activities; maintain logs of local issues, thefts, or lost/misplaced equipment.
- Serve as first point‑of‑contact for law enforcement and court officials; notify management promptly about the nature of the contact.
- Provide a helpful, polite, and professional attitude to all personnel, effectively communicating J.B. Hunt procedures with employees, visitors, vendors, and third parties.
- Comply with post‑specific responsibilities across the NWA campus.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least six (6) months of experience in security, emergency services, military service, loss prevention, customer service, business administration, or a related field.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean motor‑vehicle record (per J.B. Hunt standards).
- Associate’s degree in a related field.
- Six (6) months of security‑related experience and/or training.
- Experience in security, military, and/or law enforcement.
- CPR certification.
- Strong communication, information interpretation, and decision‑making skills.
- Ability to fulfill the physical requirements of the position.
- Professionalism when dealing with difficult individuals.
- Independent, time‑sensitive decision‑making.
- Objective judgment.
- Teamwork and individual work capability.
- Customer‑focus and ability to exceed expectations.
- Experience in a fast‑paced environment.
- Interest in learning new technologies/software.
- Basic employee safety knowledge.
- Priority management and detailed report writing.
- Knowledge of premise‑security techniques and technologies.
- Willingness to work night shifts and/or weekends.
