About the Opportunity:
Our client has a growing presence across in
Lowell AR.
We're seeking a driven and detail-oriented Carrier Sales Representative with solid LTL Operations experience to join our client's growing freight brokerage team. This individual will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with carrier partners, negotiating rates, ensuring on-time service, and maximizing margin on every transaction. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
, enjoys solving problems in real time, and understands how to balance service and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Source, negotiate, and secure carriers to move freight for existing and new customer shipments.
- Build and maintain a reliable carrier network across key lanes and modes (TL (Van, Reefer, Flatbed, LTL, Expedite, etc.).
- Negotiate competitive rates while maintaining margin targets and service standards.
- Ensure on-time pickup and delivery
, resolving service issues proactively. - Communicate closely with Account Managers and Operations to align carrier capacity with customer needs.
- Maintain carrier information, performance records, and availability in the TMS (e.g., McLeod, AscendTMS, etc.).
- Monitor market trends and spot rate fluctuations to anticipate pricing and capacity shifts
. - Manage relationships with both large fleets and owner-operators, ensuring compliance with safety and insurance requirements.
- Collaborate with accounting and operations teams to ensure accurate billing, documentation, and payment processing
.
Qualifications
- 13+ years of freight brokerage, carrier sales, or transportation operations experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of Truckload, LTL, and expedite markets and carrier dynamics.
- Proven ability to negotiate rates and manage carrier relationships profitably.
- Excellent communication and multitasking skills able to work effectively in high-pressure situations.
- Proficiency in TMS systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams).
- Highly motivated, results-driven, and organized.
- Strong sense of urgency and ability to adapt to shifting priorities.
Performance Metrics
- Daily/weekly margin generated per load or per truck
- Carrier retention and on-time performance rates
- Number of loads booked and covered
- Carrier satisfaction and network expansion
