Job Summary: Under routine supervision, this position completes DOT applications and onboards commercial, non‑commercial, and contract drivers. The Onboarding Specialist documents information from driver applicants during the hiring process and assists drivers throughout the onboarding process.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain relationships with driver‑applicants through verbal and written communication to ensure engagement and readiness through the onboarding process.
- Utilize various systems to document all contact with driver‑applicants to improve internal communications and maintain compliance.
- Request, order, and provide driver applicants’ travel arrangements using company software and communicate with internal partners (client managers & operations personnel) for potential details and hotel arrangements.
- Order driver applicants’ pre‑employment drug tests using company software to ensure DOT and company standards are met.
- Gather & communicate pertinent information for safety, operations, and compliance personnel using various internal and external systems required for company policies and DOT regulations.
- Inform driver applicants who do not meet hiring requirements that they are currently ineligible, but keep them interested in working for J.B. Hunt for a future opportunity.
- Continue to promote the company to driver applicants in the recruiting process.
- Ensure drivers have all pertinent information such as job descriptions and onboarding location.
- Receive phone applications, screen, and schedule qualified driver applicants for onboarding and gather all required DOT and company paperwork using multiple systems to ensure DOT requirements are met before hire.
- Balance inbound and outbound calls within a call center.
- Pay: $19.50 an hour.
- Ability to provide effective written and verbal communication.
- 1 year of related experience (e.g., fast‑paced office or call center).
- Basic experience in Microsoft Office Programs.
- Aptitude to learn new computer programs quickly.
- Experience with Dynamics or ATS (Applicant Tracking Systems).
- Written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic time management skills.
- Ability to influence across multiple levels.

- Operation in a fast‑paced environment while managing multiple priorities.

- Factors affecting starting pay may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications.
