Job SummaryThe Quality Manager will oversee all aspects of quality assurance, quality control, and regulatory compliance for our dietary supplement operations. This hands‑on leadership role is crucial in a small team environment, where you’ll collaborate closely with production, operations, and management to maintain FDA compliance, implement best practices, and drive continuous improvement. Reporting directly to the owner, you’ll play a key strategic role in scaling our quality systems while ensuring product safety and efficacy.
This is a full‑time position based in Lowell, IN, with potential for flexible hours.
- Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with FDA regulations (21 CFR Part 111 for dietary supplements), GMP, HACCP, and other relevant standards.
- Oversee quality assurance and control processes, including product testing, supplier audits, raw material inspections, and finished product release.
- Lead internal audits, manage corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and handle customer complaints or recalls if needed.
- Ensure adherence to food safety protocols, including allergen control, sanitation, and microbial testing.
- Manage organic certification processes, including documentation, audits, and compliance with USDA Organic standards or equivalent certifications.
- Collaborate with the team on process improvements, risk assessments, and new product development to enhance quality and efficiency.
- Prepare for and manage third‑party audits (e.g., SQF, organic certifications) and regulatory inspections.
- Train and mentor staff on quality procedures, fostering a culture of excellence in our small‑team setting.
- Monitor industry trends and update policies to maintain compliance with evolving regulations in the supplement sector.
- Report quality metrics to leadership and contribute to strategic planning for growth.
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field; advanced degree or certifications (e.g., ASQ CQA, PCQI) preferred.
