For current state employees, established salary rules apply.

To serve as a professional staff employee of the Indiana State Police whose primary responsibility is to support the Laboratory Division's forensic drug analysis at an entry level.

• Support the Laboratory Division's forensic drug analysis at an entry level.
• Upon completion of relevant training, conduct forensic analysis of routine drug evidence.
• Testify in court as an expert witness in forensic drug analysis.

• A Bachelor's Degree in a natural science, Chemistry, or Forensic Science.
• Completed a minimum of one semester of Physics and Analytical Chemistry/Instrumental Methods, and one year of general Chemistry and Organic Chemistry, including lecture and laboratory classes.
• Basic knowledge of the theory and practical operation of a variety of scientific instrumentation and analytical techniques.
• Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing, with scientific and nonscientific personnel.
• Valid driver's license and ability to operate a motor vehicle.
• Successful completion of a background investigation.
