New Leaf Energy is an experienced clean‑energy developer that partners with landowners, policymakers, and other stakeholders to accelerate the transition to a world powered by renewable energy. We identify high‑value sites, work with landowners and local communities to develop them, and partner with long‑term asset owners to bring the most impactful clean‑energy projects to life.
PositionA M&A Director will lead the marketing, negotiation, and sale of clean‑energy projects developed by New Leaf Energy. The role requires an in‑depth understanding of renewable‑energy markets, project development, financing considerations, and an appreciation for the details that drive project valuations.
Location & Work ArrangementsThis position may be filled out of the Boston, Lowell, Oakland, Troy, or Chicago offices. Hybrid workers must be in the office at least two days each week on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday.
Responsibilities- Lead cross‑functional teams to market and sell projects in accordance with forecasted milestone dates.
- Negotiate membership‑interest purchase agreements (MIPAs) for the sale of renewable‑energy projects.
- Run professional competitive marketing processes using project‑management best practices.
- Collaborate with Sales and regional teams to design and implement strategy for marketing portfolio projects.
- Assist in structuring transactions based on regulatory guidelines, risk‑management techniques, and investment‑community needs.
- Strengthen customer relationships by upholding cultural pillars throughout the marketing and sales process.
- Develop and maintain domain expertise in the market verticals of regional teams.
- Build strong cross‑functional relationships with legal, finance, accounting, engineering, real‑estate, and policy teams.
- Perform due diligence on projects and resolve outstanding issues with stakeholders.
- Manage data‑room construction, portfolio marketing materials, and external diligence processes.
- Direct staff within the M&A department and in other departments.
- Identify and lead creation or improvement of company policies and procedures.
- 6+ years of experience in renewable‑energy project development, M&A, or finance.
- Knowledge of tax and key real‑estate processes.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and project‑management skills.
- Understanding of project financial structures, terminology, tax implications, and investor decision‑making.
- Expertise in MIPAs and renewable‑energy purchases.
- Experience with interconnection, permitting, and real‑estate development.
- Knowledge of electricity‑system market structure, rules, regulations, and economics.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Business (MBA preferred).
- Action‑oriented decision‑making and practical problem‑solving.
- Exceptional communication, organization, time‑management, and adaptability.
- Passion for accelerating renewable‑energy adoption.
New Leaf Energy offers a market‑competitive base salary, additional above‑market variable compensation, and an equity‑like program. Base salary for the Lowell location ranges from $133,480 to $180,590. Total compensation is heavily driven by a generous incentive plan paid quarterly.
