General
Summary:
Middlesex Community College seeks to fill part-time biology faculty positions in general biology I & II, anatomy and physiology I & II, and nutrition for in-person, hybrid, and online lecture and laboratory courses beginning the fall 2025 semester. The College's part-time science faculty are knowledgeable and creative professionals who have a demonstrated commitment to working with the College's diverse students and community.
The College is committed to hiring creative and knowledgeable individuals that have expertise in this area.
- Provide instruction for a group of up to 24 students in a classroom.
- Ability to instruct in at least one of the following courses:
General Biology I, General Biology II, Anatomy and Physiology I, Anatomy and Physiology II, Nutrition. - Develop and use student‑centered pedagogies.
- Develop and use assessment strategies that maximize the developmental learning process and measure student learning outcomes.
- Develop and apply instructional methods that engage students of varying learning styles and abilities.
- Develop and apply technology in and out of the classroom.
- Use Blackboard Learning Management System to post syllabi, assignments, and grades.
- Participate in the end‑of‑term grading session of a common final assessment.
- Fulfill terms of the faculty contract as set out in the Agreement between the Board of Higher Education and the Massachusetts Community College Council/Massachusetts Teachers Association.
- Master's degree in biology or a closely related field.
- Classroom teaching of high school or college science courses.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, continuous professional improvement, developmental education, inclusive pedagogies, and use of technology to support student learning.
- Willingness to work collegially with a diverse body of faculty and staff.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the role of the community college in higher education.
- Doctorate degree preferred.
- Bilingual skills a plus.
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Blackboard LMS, and PC.
Salary Range: DCE adjunct faculty members are paid in accordance with the DCE salary step schedule:
Step 1 – $1,397 per credit
Step 2 – $1,487 per credit
Step 3 – $1,585 per credit
Step 4 – $1,688 per credit
Location: Lowell campus, Bedford campus, or online
Hours: Adjunct faculty can teach up to three courses per semester.
