Position Type: Part-Time / After-School
Compensation: $30 per hour
Schedule: Two afternoons per week during the school year, and additional rehearsals and performances.
Reports To: Performing Arts Director
Position SummaryLowell Community Charter Public School (LCCPS) is seeking a passionate Middle School Chorus - Assistant Instructor to support our after-school vocal music program. This position is ideal for college-level music students interested in choral conducting, vocal pedagogy, or music education.
The Assistant Instructor will collaborate with the Performing Arts Director to deliver engaging, high-quality rehearsals and help foster a welcoming environment where students build musical skills and confidence.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with warm-ups, vocal exercises, and rehearsal activities
- Support sectionals and small-group instruction
- Reinforce rehearsal procedures and expectations
- Assist with attendance tracking and student supervision
- Support concert preparation and performances
- Set up and break down rehearsal spaces as needed
- Communicate professionally with students and staff
- Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Current college student or recent graduate majoring in music education, vocal performance, choral conducting, or a related discipline
- Strong vocal skills and music-reading ability required
- Ability to collaborate and take direction from the lead instructor
- Reliable availability for twice-weekly after-school sessions
- Prior experience working with youth preferred
- Background check clearance required
