About the Role
Innovation Academy Charter School is seeking a passionate Special Education Teacher to join our collaborative middle school student services team for the 2026–2027 school year. In this role, you will support students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in an inclusive classroom environment while helping them build academic skills, confidence, and independence. This will serve grades 5‑8.
Our Special Education teachers partner closely with general education teachers to adapt instruction, provide targeted small‑group support, and ensure every student has access to rigorous learning opportunities. Position Responsibilities- Create a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment where all students feel supported and challenged.
- Provide direct instruction and small‑group support to students with moderate disabilities within inclusive classrooms.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, instructional leaders, and support staff to adapt curriculum and meet diverse student needs.
- Use diagnostic assessments and student data to monitor progress and guide instructional decisions.
- Develop and manage Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and participate in the special education referral and evaluation process.
- Ensure all services and documentation comply with state and federal special education regulations.
- Build strong partnerships with students and families, sharing progress and celebrating growth.
- Contribute to a school culture that values diversity, equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching.
- Engage in ongoing professional learning and collaboration with colleagues.
- Bachelor’s degree required;
Master’s degree preferred - Massachusetts teaching license in Moderate Disabilities
- Experience supporting students with disabilities in a school setting preferred (but early‑career teachers are encouraged to apply)
- Familiarity with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks
- Experience with assessment, data analysis, and differentiated instruction
- Knowledge of IEP development and special education procedures
- A collaborative mindset and commitment to inclusive education
Located in Tyngsboro, MA (near the intersection of routes 3 and 495).
