Position Description & Overview:Merrimack College is a premier regional research university committed to excellence in research and teaching. The Girard School of Business invites applicants for the position of Adjunct Lecturer for the academic year.
We are seeking highly qualified, forward‑thinking academics and practitioner‑scholars with terminal degrees to join our graduate business faculty. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about teaching at the graduate level and designing innovative, industry‑aligned experiential business courses in areas such as:
- Performance Measurement & Control
- Fundamentals of Coding
- Analytical Modeling
- Financial Risk & Insurance Planning
- AI for Business Decision Making
- Applied Project & Process Management
- Operations & Technology Optimization
- Marketing Concepts & Applications
- Sports Management
- Community Engagement
- Community Organizing & Development
Courses are offered in 4‑week (2 credit) or 8‑week (4 credit) online or HyFlex modalities. All courses are synchronous, meeting one day per week from 7:20–9:10 p.m.
Primary responsibilities:- Effectively deliver graduate‑level courses in business disciplines.
- Facilitate engaging learning experiences and incorporate real‑world applications and experiential learning into coursework.
- Manage courses, including creating innovative assessments, providing timely grading and constructive feedback.
- Design and develop high‑quality graduate‑level courses aligned with program learning outcomes, accreditation requirements, and industry needs.
- Integrate emerging technologies (e.g., AI tools, data analytics platforms) into course content and assignments.
- Stay current with emerging trends and advancements in business, technology, and pedagogy to ensure course content is relevant and aligned with evolving industry needs.
- Support continuous improvement through course evaluation and refinement.
- Mentor and guide students toward academic and professional success.
- Collaborate collegially and professionally with academic leadership to ensure curriculum relevance, rigor, and differentiation.
- Terminal degree in a business discipline or closely related field (e.g., PhD, DBA, JD, EdD, or equivalent).
- Demonstrated expertise in one or more core or emerging business areas.
- Experience teaching online/hybrid at the graduate level (MBA, MS, or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of adult learning principles and applied business education.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills in online and/or in‑person environments.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with academic leadership, faculty, staff, and students.
- Professional industry experience at a managerial or executive level.
- Experience with online pedagogy and learning management systems (e.g., Canvas).
- Experience designing graduate‑level courses and assessments.
- Relevant industry credentials (e.g., CPA, CMA, CFA, CFE, PMP, etc.).
- Cover letter stating motivation and interest, citing relevant experience.
- Resume or Curriculum Vitae (CV).
- Teaching evaluations (past two years only), if applicable.
Minimum: $5,000 per 4‑credit course.
The actual pay offered will be determined based on candidate qualifications, prior experience, scope of responsibilities, internal equity, and market considerations.
