Reports to: Principal of Record

• Remain up to date regarding curriculum content.
• Plan instruction and assessment of student learning effectively.
• Monitor students’ understanding of the curriculum and adjust instruction, materials or assessments when appropriate.
• Create an environment that is positive for student learning and involvement.
• Maintain appropriate standards of behavior, mutual respect and safety.
• Make learning goals clear to students.
• Use appropriate instruction and questioning techniques.
• Evaluate, try innovative approaches and refine instructional strategies, including effective use of technologies, to increase student learning and confidence in ability to learn.
• Communicate learning goals and high standards and expectations to students.
• Promote confidence and perseverance in students to stimulate increased personal responsibility for achieving curriculum goals.
• Strive to ensure equitable opportunities for student learning.
• Demonstrate appreciation for and sensitivity to the diversity among individuals.
• Be constructive and cooperative in interactions with parents and receptive to their contributions.
• Share responsibility for accomplishing the goals and priorities of grade/team/department, building and school district.
• Be a reflective and continuous learner.
• Comply with School Committee policies, contractual agreements, state and federal laws and regulations.
• Work cooperatively with colleagues, administrators and other school personnel.

• Certification valid for service as a teacher in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Experience with appropriate age group.
• SEI endorsement or ESL licensure preferred.
