Business Technology Teacher 9-12
The Business Technology teacher will provide high-quality, hands-on instruction, motivation, and mentoring to students in grades 9-12 as they master the occupational skills identified in the DESE Chapter 74 framework for the program.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver standards-based instruction aligned with the Massachusetts Chapter 74 program framework
- Provide hands-on, project-based learning experiences to students
- Prepare students for industry-recognized credentials (IRCs) of value to employers
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
- Develop and implement curriculum, assessments, and instructional materials
- Manage classroom operations, equipment, and technology resources
- Collaborate with administrators, colleagues, and industry partners
- Participate in professional development opportunities
Licensure Requirements:
Candidates must possess a preliminary or professional Massachusetts Technical Teacher License to teach the Chapter 74 program or be eligible to be granted a waiver while completing the licensure requirements as listed below:
- Education:
Associate degree with 18 credits related to the subject matter/framework - Work Experience:
4 years related to the subject matter/framework (bachelor's degree requires 3 years and master's degree 2 years of work experience) - Industry Credentials:
None required - Passing scores on DESE subject matter written and performance tests
- Passing score on either the DESE MTEL or VTEL literacy tests
